Swiss Solutions at 22: “We’re Just Getting Started”

In 2004, Swiss Solutions started out as a modest translation agency. Twenty-two years later, the company has evolved into a multi-faceted business powered by new service lines, top-tier talent, bold strategic pivots, and, naturally, cutting-edge technology.

For founder Florin Grünberg, hitting the 22-year milestone is the perfect moment to reflect on the journey and consider what he might do differently if he were standing at the starting line today.

If he could send a single message back to his 2004 self, the advice would be simple:

“Move faster.”

More courage, bolder initiative, and zero hesitation. Over two decades of experience have taught him a crucial lesson: never let a great idea sit on the shelf when it could be transformed into a thriving business line.

From a Translation Agency to a Multi-Branch Business

Swiss Solutions began with a single focus: translations. But over time, new service offerings emerged and the business diversified. For Florin, this evolution was not just a strategic move. It was personal.

“I get restless doing the same thing over and over. Routine isn’t for me.”

Launching every new service meant starting from square one: testing the waters, assembling the right team, and building ground-up momentum. Naturally, not every idea turned out to be a winner.

“I have endless ideas. Some are great; others, not so much. But unless you roll up your sleeves and try, you’ll never know.”

A constant itch to explore uncharted territory has fueled Swiss Solutions for 22 years. While some concepts evolved into major growth drivers, others stayed on the drawing board. What mattered most was the relentless willingness to experiment.

Taking the Leap into Bucharest

Expanding to Bucharest was a major turning point, though looking back, it feels like a natural step. At the time, however, the move was nerve-wracking. The team faced tough questions: Could they source enough German linguists? Would the market welcome them? Was the timing actually right?

“I was terrified we wouldn’t find enough German translators and that the whole thing would flop.”

It was co-founder Roxana Grünberg who pushed for the expansion. Her insistence paid off, turning the Bucharest office into a core growth engine. The takeaway? You do not always need every answer lined up before taking a leap. Sometimes you just need to trust the opportunity and figure things out on the go.

“Experience Is the Best Teacher”

Inevitably, 22 years bring a few decisions you would make differently today. With two decades of insights under his belt, Florin would tweak his approach to many past challenges, even if he would not change the overarching story.

“There’s no better lesson than learning things the hard way.”

Today, he approaches business with a far more analytical mindset, scrutinizing metrics, team dynamics, and market shifts. Maturity has refined his decision-making without dimming his entrepreneurial spark. The big difference between the beginner of 2004 and the seasoned leader today is not having all the answers. It is knowing the right questions to ask before moving forward.

The People Behind the Business

Florin’s approach to leadership has shifted significantly over the years. He realized early on that a one-size-fits-all communication style does not work.

“I had to learn how to tailor my communication to every single person.”

Time has also crystalized what makes a long-term team member stand out:

“The people driven by passion and genuine commitment stuck around. Those who were just looking for a clock-in job moved on.”

Execution matters, but culture drives sustainability. Revenue and client lists grow a business, but it is the daily effort of the team that turns vision into reality. Even as the business scales, two foundational values remain untouched: delivering exceptional value to clients, and fostering a relaxed, enjoyable workplace where people genuinely like spending their eight hours a day.

Preserving that culture becomes harder as you grow, but it remains non-negotiable.

Rebuilding from Scratch in the AI Era

If Florin had to start Swiss Solutions from scratch today, he would do it in a heartbeat, just with a completely different playbook. The biggest game-changer would be the tech landscape.

“If I were starting today, I’d lean heavily into technology. It allows you to build faster and make far fewer costly mistakes.”

Back in 2004, execution was resource-heavy and time-consuming. Today, testing an idea, launching a prototype, and validating market fit can happen in a fraction of the time. For Florin, AI and modern automation are not just trendy talking points. They are essential tools for rapid scaling. Tech does not replace human experience. It simply drastically shortens the distance between concept and execution.

And even after 22 years, the hunger to scale has not faded. In fact, the questions are bigger now, and served with a side of humor:

“How do you make your first 10 million euros?”

It is not just about a number. It is about breaking into the next league. How do you scale up? What operational shifts are required?

“If you stop setting goals and run out of things to dream about, the business dies.”

Passion, Communication, and Innovation

Summarizing 22 years of Swiss Solutions comes down to three words: passion, communication, and innovation. Passion for the craft, transparent communication with clients and team, and a constant appetite for innovation have been the bedrock of the company’s success.

When asked where he sees the company in 50 years, Florin laughs:

“‘Incredible! These guys have been dominating the market for 72 years and they’re still at the top of their game!’”

Until then, there is plenty of work to do: new ideas to test, new services to launch, and a great team to grow with.

Twenty-two years in, Swiss Solutions is not coasting on its history. It is an evolving machine looking toward its next chapter. As Florin puts it:

“We’re just getting started.”
